Ringwood Hall | Chesterfield, England

Ashley and Gill

Ash and Jill's wedding at Chesterfield, just outside of Manchester, was one of those experiences I'll never forget. Ash is originally from this small suburb near Sheffield—the part of England known for steel manufacturing and some of the finest craftsmanship in the world. But what made this wedding truly special was the venue itself.

They got married at Trinity Chapel, a tiny 300-year-old chapel outside of Chesterfield that's incredibly exclusive. To even be allowed to marry there, your grandparents, parents, and you all have to be born in Chesterfield. It's not something that happens every day, and being able to photograph in such a historic, stunning space was honestly a privilege.

The day was a perfect mix of English charm and Canadian energy. Half the guests were locals from Chesterfield, and the other half flew in from Ontario and BC. The girls were popping champagne and gifted Jill this amazing "wifey" sweater. The boys? Classic English lads—drinking, talking shit, and just being themselves from the moment they woke up.

The ceremony was unforgettable. Ash met the minister through the Canadian reserves, and during the sermon, he pulled out a bag of Haribo gummy candies and built his entire message around them. He used the different candies as analogies for a successful marriage, throwing them around the chapel and making the whole thing interactive and fun. I've never seen anything like it, and it was so perfectly them.

After the ceremony, we headed to a nearby castle—I think it was Cartwright Castle—and got to ride in a 120-year-old car called a Regent. It was basically made of wood with a single-cylinder engine and had to be driven by a special driver because it's literally an antique. Talk about a unique experience.

Back at Ringwood Hall, we took photos around the Italian Tuscan-inspired gardens, the beautiful staircases, and the stunning grounds. Everything about this venue was picture-perfect, and being in England photographing a wedding felt surreal in the best way.

What really stood out was the energy. The speeches were hilarious and spirited, the Yorkshire puddings were incredible, and the whole vibe was just pure celebration. It felt less like a traditional wedding and more like a massive family reunion where everyone was just there to have the best time. The party went until 2 or 3 in the morning, and people were even talking about heading to a local pub to keep it going.

The dance floor was absolutely insane. At one point, one of Ash's friends asked Jill if he could pick her up while dancing. She said no at first, but he went for it anyway, and you could literally see the moment she switched from "no, no, no" to "fuck it, this is awesome." She threw her hands up and just went with it, and it was such a perfect snapshot of the whole night—spontaneous, fun, and full of life.

Ash and Jill's wedding was a reminder that the best celebrations are the ones where everyone just lets loose and enjoys being together. Definitely one of my favorites from this year.
