Sonam and Sanam
Sonam and Sonam's wedding was the definition of adventure meets tradition. They wanted to blend their love for travel and spontaneity with the rich culture, food, and music of an Indian celebration—all in Mexico.
My team and I flew from Vancouver and Toronto to meet in Cancun for their three-day celebration, and it exceeded expectations.
The first day kicked off with their Haldi ceremony on the beach. The vibe was incredible—guests with parasols and mimosas, ocean breeze in the background, everyone dressed up and ready to have fun. When it came time for the Haldi, their friends went all out. Sonam and Sonam got covered in paste from head to toe. They were lifted on chairs and thrown into the water, laughing as they rinsed off before heading to the Sangeet.
The Sangeet is always one of my favorite parts of any Indian wedding, and this one delivered. The energy was electric—dancing, music, colors, and the smell of food in the air. The guys put on an incredible show, and the girls killed it too. Pure celebration.
The next morning, despite partying all night, Sonam and Sonam were up early for the Bharat. Sonam rode in on a beautifully decorated horse with traditional Indian designs—a stunning moment. The ceremony was emotional. Sonam, usually controlled and reserved, started crying as she walked down the aisle. Watching both families come together with flower petals tossed in the air was beautiful.
After the ceremony, we kept photos short—just 45 minutes to an hour—so they could get back to their guests. We used the modern lines of the Hyatt Hotel and incorporated parasols from the ceremony as props, adding a unique touch to their photos.
Cocktail hour and the reception were where things really took off. Once the dance floor opened, it was game over. The music started, and just like every Indian wedding, things went wild. My team and I were right there with them, dancing, laughing, and celebrating. That's how we love to work—being part of the experience so we can capture genuine, candid moments.
